Instagram Lite is a lighter version of the official Instagram app and is only available on Android. Like other lite social media apps, it has extreme optimization to perform at its best on cheap Android phones with basic specifications. For example, it allows you to significantly reduce the weight of the app, which is only 4 MB, while the complete app reaches 100 MB.
Another important point is that Instagram Lite consumes less mobile data and, in turn, requires fewer resources from this type of connection. Your system loads faster using slow Internet. For example, you will have no problem fully functioning using 3G networks or unstable or unsecured Wi-Fi connections.
To avoid excessive processes, Instagram Lite offers only the basic and essential functions of the platform, such as: the feed, Instagram Stories, simple Reels, publications, direct messages, account menu, profile options and notifications.
Instagram Lite does not maintain a large number of active processes in the background or strain the smartphone's GPU to render complex AR stickers, effects and filters. Thanks to this, the battery consumption of the application is lower, making it a good option for those users who prioritize the phone's autonomy above everything else.
How to use Instagram Lite
Using Instagram Lite does not involve any complications. On the contrary, it is a safe, fast and easy to understand app. You will only have to do the following:
– The first step is to download the “Instagram Lite” app from the Google Play Store, then log in to your account.
-Once inside, you will find the previous Instagram interface: in the left corner you can create your Stories and in the right you will access the direct messages section. In the lower menu you will find the option to search for users, the section to generate posts, stories and reels, the reels and your profile menu are also available.
– When you enter your profile, you will see all your photos and videos, news and the publications in which you have been tagged.
– Finally, in the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner, you will have the settings, data saving, languages, archive and more at your disposal.
What Instagram Lite does not offer
As expected, the Lite version loses some functions that are present in the full Instagram app. Firstly, advanced content creation will not be enabled, that is, Instagram's Augmented Reality filters and professional video editing tools, because they are heavy and demanding.
Live broadcasts are also out. While you will be able to watch Instagram Live whenever you want, the interaction features will not be present to improve the stability of the app when the Internet is slow. Likewise, Instagram's custom dark mode, chat themes, and overall interface change are not available in Lite.
Finally, although advertising continues to be present, it is displayed in simpler formats, such as low-resolution photos or videos, so that mobile data consumption is not excessive.
