If you work remotely, or connect with other professionals located in other offices of your company, or with collaborators and partners who are in other locations, you will be used to using a video calling app like Microsoft Teams, one of the most used in work environments.
In reality, it is much more than a video calling app, since it allows you to work in a group, share files and documents, chat with coworkers, organize common tasks and, of course, hold virtual meetings.
One of its peculiarities is that it always shows the status in which you are, as well as the rest of the users with whom you have contact. Thus, by following a color scheme similar to that of a traffic light, you can know if your colleagues are available or not, just as they will know if you are.
In this sense, if a red light is shown on your profile, it means that you are not available, so don't be disturbed. If it is yellow, it will indicate that you are absent, while if the light is green, it will mean that you are available.
The "problem" is that in Teams you appear connected when you access the tool, but if you remain inactive for a few minutes - for example, because you go to the bathroom or because you receive a phone call on your mobile - your "green" status will automatically change to yellow.
For whatever reasons - for example, if you don't want your boss to suspect that you are not at work - you may want your status in Microsoft Teams to always appear in green. You can achieve this in two ways, as you will see below.
How to make your status in Teams always appear green
If you want to always appear connected in Microsoft Teams, you can achieve this in four possible ways:
Manual configuration
On the one hand, you can manually activate your status in Teams. To do this, you must go to your profile configuration options, clicking on your profile image, located in the upper right corner of the screen.
There, in the options that appear, click on "connection status" and choose to appear connected and the time you would like to appear that way.
If you select, for example, the eight hours that your work day lasts, you will always appear in "green" in that period of time.
In the computer configuration options
Another thing you can do so that your Teams status always appears green is to configure your computer so that the session is never suspended.
To do this, go to your computer's configuration options and activate the option so that your session is never suspended. Thus, neither your screen nor your device will turn off even if there are periods of inactivity.
Playing a YouTube video
If you keep a YouTube video playing on a loop in the background while you're in Teams, you won't be signed out or shown as "away."
With a third-party program
There are programs that allow you to keep your computer session active. To do this, what they do is simulate the movement of the mouse. This way the computer will always be active and your Teams session will not be shown as "away"
