Google has launched Nano Banana 2, its next-generation AI imaging model based on Gemini 3.1 Flash Image.
The company presented the Nano Banana imaging model in the summer of 2025, which represented a true revolution in the way images are generated and edited with artificial intelligence. Months later, in November, it launched Nano Banana Pro, which provided studio-quality creative control.
Now, Nano Banana 2 comes to offer all users, for free, the best of Nano Banana and also the quality and speed that Nano Banana Pro provides.
And Nano Banana is much faster generating images, making edits and iterations. Among the functions it provides are these two:
-It is able to use its extensive knowledge base, along with real-time information and images searched on the web, to represent specific topics more accurately. It is especially useful for creating infographics, converting notes into diagrams and generating data visualizations.
-Allows you to generate precise and legible text for marketing mockups or greeting cards. You can even translate and localize text within an image.
Nano Banana 2 also dramatically reduces the gap between speed and visual fidelity:
Maintains the likeness of up to five characters and the fidelity of up to 14 objects in a single workflow. This allows you to create storyboards and narratives without altering the appearance of previous images.
Now, in addition, the model adheres more strictly to the requests, capturing the specific nuances of the prompts and sticking more closely to the instructions given.
It allows you to modify aspect ratios and resolutions, from 512px to 4K, so that your visual creations look sharp whether in a vertical social media post or on a widescreen wallpaper.
Additionally, Nano Banana 2 delivers vibrant lighting, richer textures and sharper details, while maintaining a high-quality aesthetic at the speed expected from Flash.

-Gemini App: Nano Banana 2 replaces Nano Banana Pro on Quick, Thinking and Pro models. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers continue to have access to Nano Banana Pro for specialized tasks by regenerating images through the three-dot menu.
-Search: in AI and Lens Mode, through the Google application and mobile and computer browsers. Available in 141 countries.
-AI Studio + API: Available in preview in AI Studio and Gemini API. Also available at Google Antigravity.
-Google Cloud: Available in preview with Gemini API on Vertex AI
-Flow: Nano Banana 2 is the new default imaging model in Flow, available to all Flow users at no credit cost.
-Google Ads: Nano Banana is available in Google Ads and offers suggestions when creating campaigns.
