OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health, to talk about health with AI

OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, has announced the ChatGPT Health launcha new space in which users will be able to have conversations about their health with the artificial intelligence chatbot.

This is something that many people already do - according to OpenAI, more than 230 million people around the world ask ChatGPT questions related to their health every week - but with the launch of this new space they will now be able to do it specifically, in a place created specifically for them, keeping those conversation threads away from other topics that they may be dealing with in the AI chat.

This way, health topics will not interfere with other conversations with ChatGPT. In fact, from now on, when a user asks ChatGPT a question about their health, the AI will advise them to continue their chat in that other separate space, ChatGPT Health.

While you're using ChatGPT Health, the AI will also take into consideration what you've previously discussed with it in the ChatGPT app. For example, if a few weeks ago you requested a low-carbohydrate diet, ChatGPT will be aware that you are on a diet.

ChatGPT Health also integrates with your medical reports and other health applications such as Apple Health or MyFitnessPal, to take your physical condition into account.

As OpenAI has assured, the application will not use the conversations that take place in ChatGPT Health to train its models. The company has also indicated that it does not intend to replace medical professionals with this new functionality, but rather to eliminate certain barriers that prevent users from accessing advice about their health, for example, professional costs or saturation of professionals.

In any case, in the terms of use of ChatGPT Health, the company points out that "it is not indicated to diagnose or treat any health condition," or diseases, or even to interpret the symptoms that the user may have.

This should be taken into account, since language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT in reality what they do is offer an answer that may be the most common or expected to a question or prompt, but in reality they do not have the ability to know what is correct and what is not.

Therefore, it is important to remember that the use of a tool like ChatGPT can be useful at an informative level, but that the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or pathology, as well as the interpretation of symptoms, must always be carried out by a health professional.

The most recommended is always seek medical advice, do not search on Google or ask ChatGPTalthough millions of people do it - we do it - all over the world.
